Sidney Lumet (natural June 25 1924) is an American film director, with all over L films to his name, including a critically acclaimed 12 Angry Men (1957) and Network (1976). He won Oscar for Lifespan Accomplishment around 2005, for his "brilliant services to screenwriters, performers and the art of the motion picture".

Lumet was an actor prior to he was the director. His parents were Yiddish theater actor Baruch Lumet and dancer Eugenia Wermus. Lumet manufactured his stage debut at New York's Yiddish Art Theater at the age of four & acted within Yiddish theater & in Broadway into the Fifties. Graduate of the Professional Children's School.
